The White House during in the period of the Great Depression: The Great Depression was a scary period of economic decline in the United States. The "New Deal" describes the first attempt to bring about relief during this time; nevertheless, the recession continued for seven more years. To make matters worse, World War II stimulated the economy with increased demand for war materials and commodities. In time, then-President Herbert Hoover was widely congratulated for his efforts to bring about relief, but he still faced multiple challenges. The President's administration was greatly lauded for implementing a number of reforms that benefited the economy and helped avoid a repeat of previous economic stalemates.

Herbert Hoover, who hailed from Iowa, led the administration during the Depression. As a mining engineer, Hoover had worked as a secretary of commerce under Harding and Coolidge. As noted, his administration largely implemented policies that formed the basis for President Franklin D. Roosevelt's "New Deal ."It funded the Hoover Dam on the Colorado River, increased federal subsidies for agriculture, and implemented new labor protections. Hoover was also a key contributor to the Glass-Steagall Act, which limited the activities of commercial banks.

For starters, the President established the Reconstruction Finance Corporation (RFC) in January 1932. The RFC introduced emergency loans to businesses at risk of default. The agency lent money to banks, railroads, and certain agricultural groups. Later, the RFC expanded its operations and was effective in stabilizing business. Another beneficial government initiative was the Emergency Relief Construction Act, which was signed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in July 1932. The act enabled the RFC to provide $300 million to various state relief programs. It also provided $1.5 billion for public works projects. Finally, President Hoover persuaded Congress to establish Federal Home Loan Banks, which gave homeowners a low-interest mortgage.

White House during the War with Britain: The United Kingdom became involved in World War II on 3 September 1939, when it declared war on Nazi Germany in response to their invasion of Poland. However, the Anglo-French alliance was largely ineffective and did little to help Poland, making the war a "Phoney War." The German invasion of Denmark and Norway in April 1940 graphically illustrated this phoney war. The war pitted the United States against Britain; it had a profound effect on the future of the US. At this time, Britain was already waging war on France and a series of French-American brushes was triggering tensions. The United States had been trying to expand its borders and trade relations with France; thus the British blockade of the American coast threatened to cut off the flow of commerce.

Andrew Jackson's inauguration: During Andrew Jackson's inauguration, the streets of Washington DC were crowded with people cheering the newly elected President. Jackson's supporters were jubilant, but his critics were appalled. They saw the inauguration as an example of the will of the people running wild. Nonetheless, the presidential inauguration has become an iconic moment in the history of the American presidency; this was the case during Andrew Jackson's administration.

The inauguration took place on the east portico of the Capitol building in Washington, DC. This was before presidential inaugurations were moved to the west portico in 1981. The east portico was huge enough to accommodate thousands of people, and Jackson himself faced the throng on horseback. The crowd rushed to the President's side, and his inauguration reception was so chaotic that many pieces of glassware and china were destroyed. The inauguration's raucous atmosphere also led to the spilling of spiked orange punch on the carpets, and tubs of punch were brought outside as people struggled to see him. Michael Jackson, also christened the 'King of Pop', was an American singer, dancer, leading entertainer, and a successful recording artist who dominated the world music industry. Music experts believe that Jackson's outstanding contribution to the US and world entertainment culture was almost unparalleled in the 20th century. Indeed, Jackson is classified as perhaps- the greatest ever entertainer in the world music industry. Michael Jackson's career started way back in the 1970s.

MJ, as he was popularly known, was born in Indiana, not far from Chicago, on the August 29th 1958. He was the eighth among ten children born in a working-class African-American family. MJ was raised in a music-loving family. Unsurprisingly, MJ's mother, who's known as Katherine Esther Jackson, is a skilled clarinet and piano player, while his father, Joe Jackson, regularly played the guitar with a locally-performing rhythm and blues band.

When MJ was only six years old, his father was already managing the Jackson Five music band- that was way back in 1964. The Jackson Five band united all the brothers in the Jackson family; the band toured various bars and clubs, performing a mix of popular Motown hits. During the band's subsequent performances in 1968, the youthful MJ's skills particularly caught the viewer's attention. In the same year, the Jackson Five band signed up with the Motown records. In 1969, the band released its first single; it was labelled I Want You Back; by the time Jackson was only 11, their first production had already hit number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

In the early 1970s, the sensational youthful entertainers first appeared in the Jackson Five TV cartoon series. This was followed by the Jacksons, a TV variety show that continued for a season. The show also included their sister Janet Jackson. MJ later started out on a solo career during the disco era peak in 1971; he did this while still working for Motown Records. MJ became a solo star when he released Off the Wall, his fifth studio album. The wildly successful album sold more than a million copies globally. It also inspired four top 10 series. The Jackson Five was renamed the Jacksons in 1975 when it signed up with Epic Records. The band continued making international tours, releasing six more albums in the years spanning 1976-84.

The exciting pop sensation Jackson had already won several coveted accolades by the 1980s. These included winning three American Music Awards in recognition of his solo work and the best male R&B vocal performance Grammy Award. He also received the music industry's highest royalty rate (by 37% of the wholesome album profit). Jackson, accompanied by his brothers, later embarked on his final tour that was intended to support the new album, Victory. MJ also did a duet together with State of Shock and Mike Jagger; they recorded the production from 1981 to 1983 with Queen singer Freddie Mercury.

Jackson hit the peak of his career after releasing his solo album, Thriller; the celebrated album quickly rose to become number one on US album sales, remaining top of the charts for almost 37 weeks. Once again, Thriller also put Michael Jackson's name in the Guinness Book of World Records, attaining more than 110 million sales globally. The album included popular one hits, including Billie Jean and Beat It. In the wake of Thriller's unprecedented global success, Michael Jackson was catapulted into the rank of the world's most famous pop singer.

MJ performed Moonwalk, his famous dance move, in 1983; it later became his trademark signature dance in the repertoire. So, Thriller's success became MJ's success; the album eventually won eight Grammy Awards. It became the Album of the Year, selected among 38 nominations. Thus, Jackson became a Grammy Award winner for the 13th time. MJ followed this with the production of a series of innovative movies; these included some bestselling albums like Dangerous and History: Past, Present, and Future, as well as Bad. He became an ambassador championing racial integrity and the fight against prejudice (including injustice with songs). Out came Heal the World, Man in the Mirror, Black or White, They Don't Care About Us, and Earth Song.

The world was shocked by the news announcing MJ's death on June 25th, 2009. Jackson died while he was still preparing to perform. This is It, a new concert series announcing his big comeback onto the pop music stage. The 50-year-old pop legend reportedly died from taking an overdose of Propofol injection that his physician administered. In the same year, Jackson's physician, Murray, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to prison. The LA County Coroner had determined that Jackson's death was the result of a homicide.

The Saudi Arabian government has reopened the visa-on-arrival program for holders of valid visas for the US, UK and Schengen area, effective immediately. The move comes two weeks after the country lifted all COVID-related entry restrictions and returns Saudi to pre-pandemic levels of openness.

Citizens of any country who hold one of the three visas and who are travelling on one of the country's national carriers – Saudi, Flynas or Flyadeal – can now receive a 12-month tourism visa on arrival in Saudi Arabia without needing to apply in advance.

Visitors holding a valid US, UK or Schengen visa must have used it at least once to enter the issuing country or region in order to qualify for a visa on arrival in Saudi. Visitors will also need to purchase COVID-19 insurance, which they can do at any of Saudi Arabia's international airports.

Citizens of any country eligible for the e-visa program, which was introduced in 2019, may also receive a visa on arrival, regardless of the airline they are travelling with.

"Restoring the visa-on-arrival program marks the final step in returning Saudi to a pre-pandemic level of openness and makes it one of the most accessible destinations in the world for leisure, business and religious travel," said His Excellency Ahmed Al Khateeb, Minister of Tourism for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Chairman of STA. "This decision by the government will further support the many thousands of people who depend on tourism for their livelihoods while welcoming the world back to the destination with the warm hospitality for which the Saudi people are renowned."

On March 6, Saudi Arabia announced the lifting of all travel restrictions put in place to protect people from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. Visitors to Saudi no longer need to present proof of vaccination or a PCR test to enter the country. The red list of countries not allowed entry has been discontinued. Institutional quarantine requirements have been entirely removed, and social distancing rules have been lifted. Masks are required in enclosed public places only.

Saudi Arabia was one of the first countries to close its borders following the emergence of COVID-19. Since then, the government has implemented stringent health and safety protocols at all public venues, including hotels, restaurants, public buildings and offices.

Saudi opened to international leisure travelers in September 2019, less than six months before its borders were closed due to the pandemic. The country shifted its tourism strategy to focus on building domestic visitation, opening 11 destination and creating more than 270 tourism packages. As a result, Saudi recorded two successive years of growth in leisure travel without seeing a concomitant surge in COVID cases.

"Saudi has emerged from the pandemic with a burgeoning leisure and entertainment sector that includes some of the largest events in the world as well as a compelling cultural tourism offer and an increasing number of local companies dedicated to tourism," said His Excellency Al Khateeb. "We look forward to welcoming visitors from around the world eager to explore the authentic home of Arabia."
